A series of book assemblages continue the underpinning structure of phenomenology which is concerned with descriptions...both objective & subjective...intuitions and imaginative variations...all for the purpose of discovering a certain essence of experience...the binding of each book with black thread restricting its very purpose...to be opened and read...discovering its essence... the act of collecting no different from making.. repeatedly random... associations of objects suspended...intuitive choices... on the day of collecting all I wanted was a certain blackness in the covers...flat, dense, bible black... a size and thickness that felt like 'something' else in my hands...once in the studio of course things change...the acquired historicity of all that is contained within its walls...made visible in process and outcome... collage or assemblage already there waiting to be applied, discarded, applied...abandoned...sp
